Jonathan Hardin Chapter, NSDAR, started their new year of meetings with reports from various chairs and members. After hearing the treasurer’s report – from newly elected Chapter Treasurer Diane Pullin – the Chapter Executive Board approved the 2018-19 budget.

The opening program was presented by author, speaker, and new chapter member Sherrie Clark Wilson. In her program, entitled “Courageous Leadership, Distinctions of Powerful Leaders,” she shared her experiences as the first female firefighter and paramedic in the Dallas Fire Rescue Department, as well as how she eventually became a successful leader and business owner in a field related to her 34 year career with DFRD. Her most recent book is “Faith on Fire.”

*UPDATE* Commissioner Ridge reported this morning that the road will be reopened either Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. "They've poured the concrete and now we're just waiting for it to dry," said Ridge.

A bridge deemed unsafe by Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) engineers is currently being renovated on the southern end of County Road 961 in Precinct 4. Commissioner Clyde Ridge, who is a member of the state’s Highway Bridge Program, is using his road and bridge budget wisely by fixing the older bridges in his area.

“I just feel like if I don’t do it – get the federal money – then someone else will,” said Ridge.
