The making of a play

You Don’t Know Me: The Cindy Walker Songbookis one of several musicals appearing recently in our area in this commemorative year that would have been the songwriter’s 100th birthday. Created by Fairfield’s own Jeff Harrison, this show is a beautiful, comprehensive story of Walker’s life and career told through narrative, drama and song. When it was suggested about a year ago by Trinity Star Arts Council that Harrison help produce a tribute to Cindy Walker, it was discovered that there was no existing packaged syndicated show to purchase or lease. No plays about Cindy Walker had been written and published. Director George Boyd suggested Harrison create one himself.

TSAC community theater to present Always...Patsy Cline this month

TSAC Community Theater actors and musicians are busily preparing for their production of "Always...Patsy Cline," to be presented Jan. 28-29 at Teague High School Theater.

ALWAYS…Patsy Cline, one of the most produced musicals in America, has enjoyed great success both nationally and internationally. Created by Ted Swindley, the show is based on the true story of the legendary Patsy Cline (played by Joyce Nichols) and her friendship with Houston housewife Louise Seger. The relationship, which began as fan worship, evolved into one of long-lasting mutual respect. Louise, portrayed by Rachel Bossier, narrates the story from the day in 1961 when she meets Patsy at the Esquire Ballroom in Houston. From that time, Patsy keeps in touch with her number-one fan through long, hand-written letters until her untimely death in a 1963 plane crash.
