As the only undefeated team in 18-4A through the first half of the district race, the Eagles literally flew circles around the Madisonville Mustangs last Tuesday, Jan. 24, almost doubling them, 75-38! Then, on Friday, they fell behind early in the game to Athens, 10-2, then came back to take a 21-20 lead just before the first quarter ended.

They eventually won a fiercely fought battle on the very last possessions of the game by two points! Fairfield goes into their Tuesday night, Jan. 31 rematch with second place Mexia, ranked No. 27 in the state in Class 4-A (188 schools) by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches and 11th by the computer formulas of Max Preps. They currently stand (22-5) for the season!
