Eagles fall to Waco Connally 40-23

Fairfield’s 2016 gridiron fortunes continued its’ slide into unaccustomed waters last Friday night, as an ineffective passing game & repeated center snap problems in the 1st quarter alone, hobbled the offense, while the Eagle defense didn’t get its’ claws unfurled until they had yielded their 27th point early in the 2nd period! Two plays into the game, after Fairfield had received the opening kickoff, a rolling snap & a launch over the QB’s head set the offense back 19 yards & wrecked their effectiveness. After another great Rodriguez-Reyes punt of 45 yards, Connally set up shop at their own 42 yard line, taking only five plays & 1:54 on the scoreboard clock to get their 1st of four first half TD’s! Over the next four offensive series, the Eagles earned one 1st down on a bruising Akeem Jackson 15 yard jaunt, but had three incomplete pass attempts & another snap that sailed far over its’ intended target’s head!
