Joy Parker passed peacefully from this life on the morning of Nov. 21, in her home, surrounded by her family. Joy was born in Eustace, Texas, on May 24th, 1922. Joy was a proud member of the NSDAR (National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution) Lady Washington Chapter 6-056-TX. She was an avid book reader and world traveler, seeing all the world had to offer from Broadway plays in New York to an exhilarating helicopter ride over the

Freestone County Retired Teachers Association (FCRTA) is hoping to gather a group of individuals to share the cost of a bus as they ready for the upcoming Celebration of Public Education slated for 12 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 19, in Houston. Retired teacher and FCRTA member Alicia Smith is planning to fill a bus with anyone willing to stand up for the appropriate funding for 5.4 million public school children.
