Firefighters fought a losing battle Wednesday, Sept. 5, on FM 2547 outside of Fairfield when a single story home went up in flames. Heavy smoke and flames were coming from the roof when fire departments arrived. Fairfield VFD reported the fire began in the attic of the home. Two firefighters were treated by Fairfield EMS for heat-related emergencies. Assisting in this fire was Teague VFD, Wortham VFD, Streetman VFD, Southern Oaks VFD, Dew VFD, Fairfield EMS, and Freestone County Sheriff’s Office.
