FHS sends three to state track meet

Fairfield senior Tyrin West (pictured at left) set a new school record in the 400M Dash, and collected a silver medal at the 4A-Reg. III track meet last week at Bearcat Stadium in Huntsville. He and fellow senior Ryan Coleman, silver medal winner in the discus, will advance to the State Meet in Austin along with Lady Eagle Iesha Jenkins in the 400M Dash.

Another successful track season wears down to a close with the Eagle boys team sending seniors Tyrin West and Ryan Coleman to the State Meet in Austin, as well as Lady Eagle senior Iesha Jenkins!
The boys finished 10th, with 23 points, and the girls 6th, with 34 points in a field of over 40 schools competing in region 3-4A.
A tremendous effort!
West, Coleman, and Jenkins each earned silver medals for their efforts, with Coleman also placing fourth in the Shot Put, and West sixth on the 4 by 400 relay team.

The highly successful Lady Eagle and Eagle track teams put one more notch in their championship belts this past week, taking good advantage, as winners do, of the familiarity of their "home turf."

After both teams won District Crowns the previous week, they did the same again in the 4A-Waco Region Area Meet, with both teams winning the meet in the very last event of the day!

The girls went into the 4 by 400M relay down by four points to Lorena and garnered the bronze medal to win the meet, 121 to 113, as Lorena didn't have a team in the race. DaMeka Shed finished in second place for high point girl, with 24 points, behind Duke track signee Tracy Janders' phenomenal 38!

The Fairfield varsity softball team finished the regular season like a runaway freight train, steamrolling Groesbeck and Mexia last week by a combined score of 31-5, and ended up on a six game winning streak, to finish tied for the district title with Madisonville at (7-1).

The Lady Eagles went limping into district play at a struggling (4-10) and came out smoking hot on the diamond with perhaps the best .500 team (11-11) in all of 4A softball! Every Fairfield starter was on base at least once, all but two scored runs and all but one had RBI's, in this mercy-ruled shortened, three inning offensive juggernaut that saw the Lady Eagles swat eight hits and draw eight walks!
