Project Grad tickets on sale

Fairfield Project Graduation is offering the chance to win $10,000 in pre-paid Visa gift cards just in time for Christmas! A drawing will be held for the following Visa gift cards:
- $10,000
- $2,000
- $1,000
Winners will be announced Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Christmas on the Square event in Fairfield. Winners need not be present to win. Only 300 tickets are sold – so odds of winning are 1 in 300. Tickets are a $100 donation cash or check made payable to Fairfield Project Graduation and can be purchased from an junior class parent.

Court tables items, leaves on burn ban

The two main discussion items were tabled at the Sept. 27 commissioners meeting for various reasons. The court was slated to approve a purchase for materials for the district courtroom renovation, but instead took no action on the agenda item.
Also tabled was a presentation by Sandersen & Scheffer, PLLC, for their 2016 fiscal audit, of which the county has already paid $6,500 – and still owes $10,000. This item has been on the agenda since Sept. 13, but no discussion has been held.
This item is once again on the agenda for the Oct. 4 meeting.

FHS class celebrates 50th

The Fairfield High School Class of 1967 celebrated their 50th reunion on Sept. 23, in the home of Cynthia Utley and Ossie Outlaw, of Fairfield. Invited guests were from the Class of 1966 and Class of 1968. A total of 46 classmates, friends, and guests attended.

Harvey event raises $12K

FREECO Disaster Relief Volunteer Group -- a group of county residents doing their part in the wake of Hurricane Harvey -- hosted a wildly popular Harvey Relief Jam over the weekend at Tri-County Golf Club. The event raised $12,000 to be donated to Texans directly affected by the storm. The eight hour event featured eight bands, good, games, and more for the whole family. FJH students released following power outage

Parents began lining up to pick up there children from Fairfield Junior High School after a power outage shut the school down for the day Monday, Oct. 2.

Fairfield junior high students were rejoicing Monday morning when an unexpected power outage allowed them an early release at 12 p.m. The power was reportedly down in one half of the building, while the other half worked.
“The power is expected to be out for most of the day,” said FJH Principal Bryan Gawryszewski in a mass email sent to parents. The power outage only effected the junior high campus, but phone lines were down throughout the district, as well.

Twirlers head to state competitions in May

Fairfield High School Twirlers were among several schools that competed at the Regional UIL Twirling Competition held at Fairfield Junior High on Saturday, Sept. 23. All eight members of the twirling line received the highest score individually and in their two ensemble performances. They will compete at the state level in May 2018. Twirlers are (from left) sophomore Margo Measles, sophomore Bailey Jones, senior Abby Garcia, senior Madelyn Gallegos, senior Kamri Griffin, and freshman Kendal Crawford.
