Back the Blue BBQ Saturday

The Fairfield Police Association is hosting its 2nd Annual Back the Blue BBQ Benefit - this year with a great new project for which to raise funds. The group decided to begin a scholarship fund, named after former city police officer Houston Flowers, and all proceeds will go to this project this year.

Oct. events set for area

Two big events are planned for Fairfield in October. The first is the 2nd Annual National Night Out event sponsored by the Fairfield Police Association. FPA is hosting this event at Fairfield City Park from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3. Along with the City of Fairfield, FPA will be handing out swag bags filled with goodies.

FPD gets fitted for tactical plates

After raising a total of $20,000, Megan Martin (far left) donated the funds to area law enforcement officers allowing them to purchase tactical plates for each patrol officer. Albert Gallegos (center) is holding one of the carriers in which the plate fits. Gallegos, who is president of the Fairfield Police Association and a patrol officer at Fairfield Police Department, said they are "very excited to have them."
