2 locals win bass tourney

Seventeen anglers faced a tough night for fishing during the weekly Lake Fairfield Tuesday Night Bass Tournament held Tuesday, Aug. 14, with only two legal bass were brought to the scales. Fairfield resident Wayne Loven took first place with a 4 pound, 3 ounce bass, while J.D. Hancock, of Teague, grabbed second place with a 3 pound, 14 ounce fish. Loven left with $153 for his top spot finish while Hancock took home $102 for second. Entry fee for the event is $15 per person with 100 percent of the entry fees being paid back to the winning fishermen. Payout on a field of 1-20 entries is 60 percent of the pot for first place and 40 percent for second. If 21 or more anglers participate, the pot is split 50 percent for first, 30 percent for second and 20 percent for third place.
