Willie Buchanan “Buck” Slaughter, 91, of Mexia, passed away Feb. 12, in Mexia. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Bill Wright and Mr. Neil Bond officiating. Interment was in the New Hope Cemetery.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 700 IH 45 in Fairfield, with Rev. Michael Daniels, pastor of True Vine DOXA Center, officiating and Rev. C. W. Anderson serving as eulogist.
Interment followed at Pine Top Cemetery in Oakwood.

LouAnn Smith, of Fairfield, passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, at the age of 87.
She was born July 28, 1926, in Moffat, Texas, to Marvin and Myrtle Spoonts.
LouAnn married Chlois Gene Smith on July 22, 1944, in Bell County.
She worked as a telephone operator, orthodontist’s assistant and was a manager at York’s furniture store in Fairfield.

The Angelic Hosts came for Elzie Bennett Thursday, Jan. 30, in The Wesbury Place, of Houston, among loving family and devoted friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, in the Moore’s Angelic Funeral Chapel, 406 Monroe Street in Teague, with the viewing from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
The family has requested a closed casket service, with Rev. Clifford Estell McIlveen officiating.
Interment will be in the Silent Grove Cemetery in Cheneyboro, Texas, in Navarro County.
Mr. Bennett grew up in Streetman, the son of Terry F. Bennett and Pearlie Jacobs Bennett.

The Angelic Hosts came for Mr. James Arthur “Little Black” Forge, Sr., 94, Tuesday, Jan. 28, in Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia among loving family and devoted friends.
A viewing was held from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home, 406 Monroe Street in Teague.
Funeral Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Williams, pastor of Kingdom Fellowship Bible Church in Teague, officiating. Interment followed at Grove Island Cemetery in Teague.
James Arthur Forge, Sr. was born May 5, 1919, to the parentage of George Forge and Vera Williams Forge in Freestone County.

Our Beloved Frances Faye Barlow, 78, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, at her residence.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at Capps Memorial Chapel.  
Mrs. Barlow was born September 10, 1935, in Texas, to parents Burt and Ruby Springfield Smith.
Frances moved to Fairfield in 1988.
