The Freestone County Sheriff's Office, Freestone and Limestone County DPS officers, and Freestone and Limestone County Game Wardens will be well-equipped into the new year with new trauma kits donated courtesy of Enforcer Educational Services with Kasey Allen and Tara Feltgen Wednesday, Jan. 2 at the Freestone County Courthouse.

Allen, with Enforcer Educational Services, will also work in the near future to make sure the Limestone County Sheriff's Department will receive these trauma kits also.

"We are working very hard to make sure all of the departments are outfitted with these kits as quickly as possible," Allen said. "We will see that these are received two counties at a time, hopefully until all Texas departments have them."

The kits include tweezers, trauma shears, hemostat, oral airway, sterile gauze, elastic bandages, conforming gauze, trauma dressing tourniquet, tape, suture gloves, pain relievers, Band-Aids, first aid instructions, antiseptic wipes, iodine wipes, triangular bandages, butterfly closure strips, ammonia inhalants, and first aid burn cream.

"We replaced the trauma shears and tourniquet with something a good bit better," Allen said. "We want to make sure each of our first responders have what is needed between the time of an accident and the time that EMS arrives. This could be the difference between life and death in a major accident."

Allen also told FCSO deputies that anytime they used portions of the trauma kits to contact Enforcer Education Services to have the equipment replaced.

"We want to make sure you all have everything you need at all time," she said. "It is better for us to replace this equipment than to have individuals need to requisition these replacements through the county."
