Von Wade earns award

Von Wade cradles his award from the FHS cheerleaders, an Eagle head on a wooden base. The award reads: "With appreciation and gratitude to Von Wade for his continual support of the FHS Cheerleaders. 42 consecutive Homecoming Pep Rallies 1977-2018."

After attending a record 457 consecutive football games, Fairfield High School Principal Von Wade was awarded Friday night for his perfect attendance by six student representatives.  Wade was also awarded by the FHS cheerleaders at the Homecoming Pep Rally for attending 42 consecutive Homecoming Pep Rallies from 1977-2018.

Wade, who has been with the district since 1977, received awards in the past for attending his 250th and 400th pep rallies.

“The 400th was actually for the state semifinal game,” he explained, smiling at the memory.

During his FISD tenure, Wade has served as a defensive coordinator and head boys track coach, teacher, and assistant principal. He has been principal at the high school
