Eagles get close win

Fairfield Eagles took to the field Friday night in Palestine for their hard-fought win against the Wildcats. The Eagles secured their fifth win of the season with a score of 17-14. KD Walker was responsible for two interceptions against the Wildcats, one resulting in a touchdown.

In a relatively close victory, Fairfield Eagles beat Palestine Wildcats Friday night, securing their fourth win of the season with a final score of 17-14. The game against Palestine started poorly for Fairfield, with Palestine gaining a quick lead in the first quarter. “Palestine was big and fast,” said Bachtel. “They did a lot of blitzing off the edges. We are going to work on the challenges that gave us. We caused four turnovers which helped us out during the game. In the future, we need to make their mistakes hurt them more.” A stalemate ensued between both teams throughout the rest of the first half, as well as the better part of the second half.

“We came across a team we underestimated,” said senior Cody Ferguson. “We had to play the best football we could to help my team come out on top.”

Fairfield finally gained the lead in the fourth quarter, and later secured it with a field goal. Although Palestine managed to get a touchdown, the Fairfield defense kept them from scoring again.

“We found ourselves having to play through numerous amounts of pain,” said senior Jashaughn Hatcher. “We were able to stop their offense because we knew what they were going to run. We would call defensive plays on the field that would take our
