Benefits planned for Gallegos

The good thing about small towns is everyone bands together when the going gets tough. Fairfield resident Albert Gallegos, Sr. was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and several fundraisers are planned for his medical treatments.

Gallegos is a well-known and respected in the community. He worked for Nucor Steel for 30 years, and now works for the City of Fairfield.

An enchilada fundraiser is planned at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Fairfield for Friday, Aug. 24, for $10 each. Plates must be pre-ordered by 12 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, by calling Janie at 903-388-5342 or Amelia at 903-388-0702. Plates will be ready at 11 a.m. for dine-in, take out, or delivery.

A BBQ Benefit Horseshoe Tournament is also planned for Saturday, Sept. 1, at St. Bernard’s. Tournament cost is $40 per team.
