It took Teague Police Chief Dewayne Philpott and his department and witnesses only 24-hours to catch a car thief. Philpott met with Teague residents Johnny and Tanner Ledford at the Teague Police Department Tuesday, July 17, to discuss the crime. “The Ledfords reported a blue 2002 Ford Mustang had been stolen from their residence,” he reported. “The keys for the vehicle were also missing from a nightstand, which was inside an upstairs bedroom inside the residence. Clothing inside the room was strewn about.” On Wednesday morning, July 18, witness Jeff Allison, reported seeing the stolen vehicle at the Teague Lake and described a white female matching the description of the suspect Taylor McNew (aka Taylor Cobb) as the occupant. McNew is a relative of the vehicle owners. “Mr. Ledford advised he had located Taylor at Monroe and Jackson Street and had gone into a residence on Busby,” Philpott reported. “Officer Morgan arrived on scene and requested assistance due to her being belligerent.”
