William (Billy) McSpadden

Funeral services for William (Billy) McSpadden were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague with Bro. Scott Matthews officiating. Interment followed the services at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague. Visitation was at 10 a.m. Saturday prior to the service. Mr. McSpadden passed away on Wednesday, May 2, at Parkview Hospital in Mexia. He was born in Teague on November 13, 1921, to W. H., Sr. and Eunice Ogilvie McSpadden. Mr. McSpadden graduated from Teague High School with the class of 1939. He served in World War II from December 1941 until October 1945 and went overseas to England, North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He participated in an invasion of North Africa in November 1942. Mr. McSpadden retired from the United States Postal Service in 1976. He was a member of the American Legion Post 238 of Teague, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5872 of Fairfield, and National Rural Letter Carriers Association, National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Mr. McSpadden was a lifelong Presbyterian; he joined the First Presbyterian Church in 1933 where he was a Deacon and Elder for many years.
