Recycle event slated at FHS Saturday

Medications, electronics, and more will be accepted at this month's One Stop Recycle Drop at Fairfield High School from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, April 28. Normally accepted items include paper, cardboard, tin and aluminum cans, plastic, and glass. Accepted recyclables this month are:

n Medication – Freestone County Environmental Health officers will accept medications for responsible disposal. Unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medication is accepted. No liquids or needles

n Textiles – clothing, coats, shoes, towels, sheets, blankets, etc. All items must be clean and dry. Items in good, reusable condition are donated to families in need in Freestone County. Items no longer usable are recycled to benefit the Fairfield Fire Department

n Electronics – URT will accept IT electronics for recycling. URT clears all personal information to DOD standards. Acceptable items are computers, monitors and all accessories, printers, ink cartridges, small copy/fax machines, cell phones, internet wires, cables, TVs, and power cords. CRT TVs and CRT monitors are a limit of two per household. For a complete list of acceptable and not acceptable items please visit the FISD website at

n Batteries – Batteries Plus Bulbs will accept NiCd, NiMH, lead, lithium ion batteries and batteries of AC/DC equipment. This includes car batteries
