FMC volunteers finish 6th week of service

The Blue Birds of Freestone Medical Center (FMC) recently completed their sixth week of volunteer work. Sherry Brackens, who formed the group, said the patients and the community are really enjoying the program. Responsibilities include:

  • n Taking patients to the lab or x-ray department
  • n Helping patients in wheelchairs or greeting them at their cars
  • n Learning the PBX system to transfer calls in the clinic or hospital
  • n Filing paperwork, if needed, for various departments

Brackens said she is especially proud of the two high school freshman who have joined the group. Both girls have learned the PBX system and assist with patients.
