Grand Band places 1st, gets police escort back home

After placing first in the marching competition, Fairfield High School's Grand Band from Eagle Land were escorted back into town by Freestone County Sheriff's Deputy Preston Cordova and FISD's Chief Billy Barlow. The band earned a Superior rating for the first time in 13 years during the marching event at Waco/Midway Saturday afternoon. The 183-member band impressed the audience with their famous 123 diagonal freeze to bring the audience to their feet! Band Director Bill Large said the 1st Division made all of the hard work worth it. “Last year we were really good, but today everyone saw it!”
