My name is Renee Gregory Reynolds and I am announcing my candidacy for Freestone County Clerk. I am married to Gene Reynolds and we are both fifth generation and lifelong residents of Freestone County. We currently live near Streetman, where we attend the First Baptist Church. I am the daughter of Sue Gregory and the late James Gregory of Streetman. I have two brothers, Stanley Gregory and wife, Sally, of Fairfield; and Jimmy Gregory, of Woodway, Texas. Gene and I are blessed with three beautiful daughters, Paige Ranson, of Teague; Lyndsey Cherry and husband, Jake, of Mexia; and Allison Scherer and husband, Garrett, of Fairfield, as well as our grandchildren, Walker and Callie Scherer. My parents moved to Fairfield from Wortham to accept positions as Freestone County deputies under Sheriff J.R. Sessions, Jr., in January 1965. I grew up in the “Old Jailhouse,” which sat on the exact spot where the County Clerk's office is today. The courthouse square was my playground and I have many fond memories of living there. I have worked as a Professional Petroleum Landman for the past 12 years and my job included researching records in county clerk's offices across the State of Texas, which presented a unique opportunity for me to see how various county clerk offices are managed and experience the different methods used by each to maintain public records and varied technologies employed in that regard. I feel there is a need for change in the Freestone County Clerk's office.
