A Mass of Christian Burial Service for Evaristo Davila Guerrero was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 10, at St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church in Fairfield. Pastor Rev. Fr. Pancras Savarimuthu officiated. Interment followed the services at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague. Visitation was held at 6 p.m. and a Rosary was recited beginning at 7 p.m. on Monday at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Mr. Guerrero passed away on Saturday, October 7, in Waco with his family by his side. He was born in Mexico in the small town of San Martin. As a young man, he worked various jobs and even served in the military in Mexico. Looking for a better life for his spouse, Micaela Guerrero and his young family, he made the journey to Texas along with his family and worked various jobs in order to make ends meet. He acquired his legal documentation for his family and started on his journey to pursue the American dream. He settled in Teague and remained there for the remainder of his life. Evaristo had a knack for business and managed a peach orchard without any background in business and with a language barrier as he struggled to learn English.
