A family's summer vacation was interrupted after a fire began in the garage behind their home on North Mount in Fairfield. No one was in the garage when the fire began. Melinda Peterson reported her daughter had just finished mowing and stowed the mower in the garage when they heard an explosion. What caused the fire has not been confirmed. Her husband, Jerry, was at his automotive repair shop, MAP Services, when the fire began. Fairfield and Teague fire departments arrived on the scene to put out the fire. Melinda also reported the garage held 4-wheelers and the lawn mower.
