The Lorena Leopards are the (7-3) (5-0), undefeated District 9-4A, DII Champions of 2016, but last Friday night in Lorena, they barely hung on in a fierce "clawing battle" with our underdog Fairfield Eagles! As has often been the case this season, with this young and oft injured group of Eagles gridiron warriors, they fell quickly into a 12-0 hole to start the game.

However, instead of wilting, they clawed back fiercely and outplayed the champs on their own home turf for the remainder of the game - three plus quarters of hard-hitting action!

Those first 12 points were obtained despite a great game plan and start by Fairfield. The Eagles took the opening kickoff, and methodically used 4:27 of game clock, as they earned three first downs and gobbled up 56 yards of football real estate, before turning the ball over on downs at the Leopards 20 yard line.
