After a long illness, Mildred Ward went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 19, in Fairfield. Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, at Capps Memorial Chapel with Rev. Don Stanaland officiating. Interment followed at Lake Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Ward was born December 28, 1932, in Bedias, to parents Pierce O. and Mildred Bradbury Williamson; she attended Carl Wunsche High School in Spring. On August 5, 1950 she married Fairfield native Billy Jack (Bill) Ward where they celebrated God’s covenant for almost 66 years. Much of this time they lived in Houston where they raised two sons, John F. Ward, of Houston, and Jesse Alan Ward. In 1981 she and Bill retired and returned home to Fairfield. Mildred, or Aunt Mickie as she was known by so many of her nieces and nephews, was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, cook, and homemaker.
