The Fairfield varsity softball team finished the regular season like a runaway freight train, steamrolling Groesbeck and Mexia last week by a combined score of 31-5, and ended up on a six game winning streak, to finish tied for the district title with Madisonville at (7-1).

The Lady Eagles went limping into district play at a struggling (4-10) and came out smoking hot on the diamond with perhaps the best .500 team (11-11) in all of 4A softball! Every Fairfield starter was on base at least once, all but two scored runs and all but one had RBI's, in this mercy-ruled shortened, three inning offensive juggernaut that saw the Lady Eagles swat eight hits and draw eight walks!

Leading the hit-parade was Lauran Adcock, who was 2 for 3, with 2 RBI's and two runs. The lanky athlete had one triple and another line drive, in the last at bat of the game, that could have been at least a double, in not another triple, as it reached the left-centerfield wall on a couple of hops, plating the last two Fairfield runs and ending the game, mercifully so, for Mexia!
