Taxing agencies face drop in property values

Approximately 4,300 property owners received notices regarding their property’s valuation for 2014 property taxes from the Freestone Central Appraisal District this week.
Property owners may review those appraisals with district staff and file formal protests of those valuations until June 2, said Chief Appraiser Bud Black.
“We don’t anticipate a lot of activity this year,” Black noted, “because many property owners will see a reduction in the taxable value in their real property this year when compared to 2013.”
Black says that declining prices and gas production have a noticeable impact
