The recent freeze across Freestone County may have been beneficial to local peach crops, according to information from Tim Cooper, owner of Cooper Farms. Cooper said it was still too early to tell if his peach crop sustained any damage from the freeze.
“We have to thin the trees anyway, so it could be beneficial,” said Cooper. Thinning controls the number of fruit per tree to increase the size of the peaches.
