Eagles soar over Goats, Mustangs in District play

In the game against Groesbeck, played on Fairfield’s home court, the Goats drew first blood with a 13-12 margin after one quarter.

But a 17-7 run in the second quarter allowed Fairfield to take a 29-20 lead into the locker room at the half.

The two teams played relatively even in the third quarter. The score after three quarters was 45-35 Eagles.

But a huge fourth quarter -- Fairfield scored 25 -- made the game a rout.

The final score for Coach Tim Worley’s boys was 70-43, Fairfield.

But the Eagles outscored the Mustangs by just two points in the second quarter, giving them a 26-24 halftime lead.

Fairfield took control in the third quarter with a 15-5 run.

The final score was Fairfield 49, Madisonville 36.

Aaron Cain led the Eagles with 14 points, followed by Josh Brown with 13. Alex Ward had 8, as did Bryson Gates.

Cole Cooper with 4 and Aaron Heers with 3 rounded out the scoring for Coach Tim Worley’s squad.
