County considers expanding hours of senior center
County Commissioners have tabled an item pending more information about having the Senior Center open more than just three days a week, in all locations.
If open five days a week the County would have to provide staffing for all the hours the center is open due to liability.
The problem is the County does not own the building, and does not carry liability insurance.
The person who owns the building must carry the liability insurance and this person is concerned about the older people falling in the building and making the insurance rate go up because there was a claim on the insurance.
Kathy Early is to provide information and report to the Court on how many injuries there has been reported.
The motion was made by Clyde Ridge, Jr. Precinct #4 Commissioner and seconded by Craig Oakes, Precinct #2 Commissioner to table the item. The motion carried unanimously.
In other business the Commissioners:
* approved the minutes of the regular meeting on Jan. 2 and the special meeting held on Jan. 9
* accepted the monthly department reports.
* approved the proposed plans of the State Highway Department for Improvements to FCR 764.
* accepted the racial profiling stats for the year 2011.
* Accepted the Texas Department of Agriculture Home-Delivered Meals Grant Program Award and to set up a budget in a special fund.
* entered into a Maintenance Agreement with Wortham Air Conditioning for Jan. 4, 2012 – Jan. 4, 2013.
* approved and accepted replacement bonds for Safeco Insurance Company of America with Patara Oil for FCR 141, FCR 151, FCR 506 all in precinct one.
* approved and accepted replacement bonds for Safeco Insurance Company of America with Patara Oil for FCR 481
* accepted a continuation certificate for Loren Miller, Health and Safety Officer in the amount of $5,000
* accepted certificate of completion of completing the required 20 hours of Continuing Education for 2011 for Janet Chappell, District Clerk, Linda Jarvis, County Clerk and Debra Hamilton, Justice of the Peace #3.
