Jv spikers play matches, tourney

Lady Eagles junior varsity spikers started last week strong, but faltered over the weekend.

The jv played dual matches against Brownsboro and Hillsboro, then competed in the Centerville Tournament.

In the Brownsboro match, the Lady Eagles edged out a 25-23 win the first game and took the second game 25- 18 to claim the victory.

Friday at Hillsboro, the Fairfield jv again played a close first game, 26-24, and won the second 25-20 to claim the match.

The Lady Eagles opened competition at Centerville with a 23-25, 17-25 loss to Groveton and followed that up with a second round victory 25-19, 25-17 against Mildred.

The team dropped its third match of the tournament to Cayuga 25-23, 17-25, 20-25.

Leading hitters for the week were Bre Bossier, Andrea Griffin, Emilia Adu, Kassie Floyd, Sarah Sloat, Amanda Missildine and Mikeshia Hudson.

Best defensive players were Ashley Kethley, Amanda Drake, Jillian Peterson, Katie Gardner and Natalie Neill.

Providing assists were Misses Floyd and Neill. Most consistent servers were Misses Drake, Floyd, Neill, Bossier and Gardner.
