FJHS harriers run first meet

Members of the Fairfield junior high school cross country teams started the 2010 season Saturday at a meet in Crockett.

Harriers ran a 1.5-mile course and posted some of the top times in the meet.

Out of 60 runners in the boys’ division, Devin Heggins crossed the finish line first in a time of 9:17 minutes, followed closely by teammate Raheim Hayes in second place.

In ninth place was Bernardo Moran, and Brockton Higgins finished 15th.

FJHS harrier Sarie Hill bested the competition in a 95-runner field by completing the course in 10:46 for first place, with teammate Jaida Smith close behind in second place.

Three other Fairfield runners placed in the top 10---Jennifer Reed was fourth, Caitlynn Stone finished seventh and Alondra Ramirez was eighth.

Rounding out the FJHS girls’ team were: 11, Nicole Pruitt; 14, Brooke Johnson; and 15, Jessica Jones.
