At Centerville . . . Frosh win tournament
Fairfield high school Lady Eagles freshmen volleyball players won the Centerville Tournament over the weekend with three straight match victories.
Earlier in the week the frosh claimed wins over Brownsboro and Hillsboro.
At the tourney, the Lady Eagles knocked off Mildred, their toughest match, in three games 19- 25, 25-23, 25-20.
Leading hitters were Bre Faughn and Madison Alexander, with assists provided by setter Karonesha Lowery.
Best defensive players were Haylee Worley, Miss Faughn, Taylor Thorne, Brooklyn Childs and Tiara Tatum.
Most consistent servers were Misses Lowery, Tatum and Faughn.
Best all-around were Misses Faughn and Lowery.
Facing North Zulch in the second round, the FHS frosh won in two games 25- 20, 25-17.
Leading hitters were Misses Tatum, Faughn, Sam Walls and Kalli Banks, with assists from Misses Lowery and Banks.
Top defensive players were Misses Thorne, Worley, Lowery and Faughn.
Most consistent servers were Misses Walls, Faughn and Lowery.
Best all-around in the match were Misses Lowery and Faughn.
The Lady Eagles polished off Normangee 25- 22, 25-15 in the championship match to claim the tourney crown.
Leading hitters were Misses Banks, Faughn, Walls and Lowery, with assists provided by Misses Banks and Lowery.
Top defensive players were Chelsea McQueen and Misses Thorne, Worley, Faughn and Lowery.
Most consistent servers were Misses Banks, Faughn and Lowery.
The coach gave best allaround to the entire team.
Hosting Brownsboro early last week, the Lady Eagles won the match in two games 25-14, 26-24.
Leading hitters were Misses Faughn, McQueen, Lowery and Alexander, with assists provided by Misses Banks and Taylor Gray.
Top defensive players were Misses Worley, Thorne and Banks.
Most consistent servers were Misses Walls, Faughn and Banks.
Picked best all-around was Miss Faughn.
