N.B. FRANKLIN

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Capps Memorial Chapel in Fairfield for N.B. Franklin, 79, of Oakwood who passed away Sunday in Palestine. Interment with military honors followed at Mayes Cemetery near the Lone Star community.

Mr. Franklin was born Oct. 16, 1930 in Butler to parents John and Fannie Edwards Franklin and was a lifetime area resident.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and for 12 years he served as the water department superintendent in Buffalo and also performed small engine repair.

Mr. Franklin was a lifetime member of the Wilbur H. Bailey V.F.W. Post #5872 in Fairfield.

He enjoyed gardening, all animals and spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Franklin is survived by children, Lorrie Vandygriff and husband Tommy of Oakwood, Nelson Franklin and wife Vicki of Teague, and Teresa Jones and husband Joe Lynn also of Teague;

Sister Pauline Ebeling and husband Martin of Houston; grandchildren, Blake Vandygriff, Melissa Thomas and husband Tommy, Allison Franklin, Nathan Franklin, and James Jones; and greatgranddaughter, Abigail Thomas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Lummus Franklin in 1976; brothers, Pelham Franklin and John Franklin; sisters, Ollie Merry, Eula Belle Perrett, and Frances Boyle.

Officiating at the services was Rev. Max Martin of Long Lake Baptist Church.

Pallbearers were Joe Mullenax, John Mims, Bill Mullenax, Tommy Thomas, Tommy Vandygriff and Blake Vandygriff.

Making arrangements was Capps Memorial Chapel of Fairfield.
