MR. AND MRS. JIMMIE LEE The children and grandchildren of Jimmie Eugene Lee and Dorothy Jo Wright Lee invite friends and family to celebrate the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11 at the CLC Building of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Teague.

Dorothy (Dee Jo) Wright and Jimmie Lee met as students in Jacksonville Baptist College in 1959.

Mrs. Lee is the daughter of Wilbur and Johnnie Wright of Jacksonville and Lee is a native of Fairfield as were his parents, Freddie E. and Gertie Moore Lee.

Married on Sept. 16, 1960 in Opelika Baptist Church near Brownsboro, they lived in Jacksonville, Midland and Odessa until 1962.

They then moved to Quitman where Christal D’Lynn, their first daughter, was born. In 1963, they moved to Tyler where Jimmie Jr. and Andrea Kathleen were born.

For a short time, they lived in Longview and then in 1967, moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where Mrs. Lee’s family were Baptist missionaries and where Lee served as a city police officer.

After two years, they moved back to Fairfield and have made it their home for more than 40 years.

Lee worked for Brown and Root while the Big Brown plant was being built, then worked in the mining area of the plant as storekeeper purchasing agent and then safety coordinator until 1992 when he and Donald McLeod became partners in L & M Trophies in Fairfield.

Later, Lee bought McLeod’s interest in the business but kept the name, and has operated L & M since.

Mrs. Lee worked in various departments of hospitals in Tyler, Longview, Anchorage and Fairfield. She then worked for Fairfield ISD in the elementary school for 13 years, taught pre-school several years at Little Bear’s Den day care, then worked for about 20 years at L & M Trophies.

She still does computer graphics for L & M from their home, but also enjoys substitute teaching at the junior high and high schools in the Fairfield school district.
