WILLIAM ALDON (MUD) MONCRIEF
Graveside services were held Wednesday at Antioch Cemetery in Freestone county for William Aldon (Mud) Moncrief, 76, who died Aug. 29 at the Regent Care Center in Woodway.
Mr. Moncrief was born in Freestone county in the Luna community on Aug. 22, 1934 to William and Mattie Moncrief.
He moved to Teague with his family in 1944 and attended Teague schools.
Mr. Moncrief worked delivering newspapers, then for Leon’s Garage and also sold insurance for years before working for the Teague ISD.
He attended Eight Avenue Baptist Church as a youth and later became a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Moncrief enjoyed yard work, hunting, fishing and woodworking. For several years, he volunteered at Lord’s Community Store House in Teague.
He is survived by his son, Andy Moncrief and wife Lisa of Gatesville; grandson, Toby Moncrief and wife Chancie of Tyler; granddaughter, Ashley Moncrief of Tyler; greatgrandson, Hayden Moncrief;
Sister, June Layton and husband Paul of Waco; niece, Paula Eades and husband Wade of Lorena; nephew, David Layton and wife Carrie of Denton; great-nephews and niece, Brett Wiggins, Reid Layton and Sarah Eades; aunt, Irene Bessley of Dayton; and many cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.
Officiating the services was Bro. Johnny Layton and Bro. Andy Moncrief.
Making arrangements was Bowers Funeral Home in Teague.
