Fairfield resident, Mary Sue Thornton, is appearing in the third annual Dallas Spectacular Senior Follies to be held at the Eisemann Center Theater in Richardson on September 3,4 and 5, 2010. Miss Thornton will be singing and dancing for the second year in the Follies ensemble. The Tradition- Prestonwood is the principal sponsor for the third annual Spectacular Senior Follies event, which benefits the VNA (Visiting Nurse Association) and Meals on Wheels.

“The Spectacular Senior Follies is “the show” full of memories of the Ziegfeld Follies days and is performed by talented and creative individuals age 55 and better, singing and dancing to the music of the Great American Songbook - gorgeous costumes and sets and a stage packed with talent. I promise, this is the best show yet,” says the show’s artistic director, Mark Carroll.

Patterned off the Palm Springs Follies, the Dallas Senior Follies was founded by Ned Startzel and Mark Carroll in 2008 and has been held at the Eisemann Theater and at the Majestic Theater. This year it is back at the Eisemann. The extravagant annual September production features classics from the 1930’s and 40’s and is reminiscent of the legendary Ziegfeld Follies and highlighted by variety acts, singers, and dancers, including the Rotary Chorus, Lu Mitchell, Rose- Mary Rumbly, and countless others. It features the Follies showgirls in breathtaking gowns and magnificent headdresses. Quoting Dr. Kenneth Cooper, “...an outstanding evening of entertainment. Their performance is as professional as any show you will see on Broadway.”

Jon Garinn of the Dallas Morning News says, “Spectacular doesn’t begin to describe The FOLLIES. The show needs a word all its own. Spectabulous? Fantacular?

Perhaps the best description isn’t spoken at all - it’s the sound of applause and the audience rising to its feet.”
