Entries open for county hay show

2010-09-02 / News

Entries for the 2010 Freestone County Hay Show are now being accepted at seven locations within the county.

Each producer is allowed one free sample and each additional sample costs $5.

Samples should be taken from the core of both round and square bales, and producers should avoid pulling samples from the outer 4-6 inches of round bales.

Producers should try to take samples from several different bales and mix them thoroughly.

Samples should then be submitted in grocery store paper sacks and should be filled approximately halfway.

Each sack should be labeled with the producer’s name, address, phone number, and the type of grass.

Samples should be dropped off at one of the following locations by Sept. 22: 3-W Ranch Supply, Capps Hardware and Ag Center, Fairfield Farm and Ranch Supply, Harvest Management, L & H Feed and Fertilizer, Turner Feed and Fertilizer, or the Texas AgriLife Extension Freestone county office.
