Fairfield Hospital District conducts its first election in eight years this November because this is the first time since 2002 that board of directors posts have been challenged.

The board last week ordered an election for Nov. 2 to seat four directors to terms of four years each.

Signed up for the posts are incumbents Jeff Taylor, Andy Awalt, Dr. J.H. Keller and Sherry Brackens, and challenger David Lott.

The district has not had to hold an election in eight years because the number of candidates equalled the number of seats to be filled, making an actual vote moot.

Early voting runs Oct. 18-29.
