Dear Editor:

I can’t begin to express how good it made me feel to realize that there is at least one other person in this county that shares some of the same beliefs and values as I do. I appreciate Mrs. Price for having the guts to stand up for us benevolent, broadminded, liberals, who believe in freedom of choice, as well as Constitutional and individual rights . . . I am not ashamed to admit that I, too, believe in helping those less fortunate than me, and if that makes me a “socialist” then so be it.

I am appalled by the mean spirited, hateful and selfish so-called Christians that spout their “Bible talk” out one side of their mouth, all the while making reference to “head shooting” illegal immigrants out the other side. I do believe that our immigration system needs to be reformed, but it should be done in a sensible and humanitarian way, a way that would allow the hard working, family minded, people among them, to have the opportunity to become US citizens.

I am amazed by the Republican and Tea Party affiliates. The very ones who were waving the Constitution around like it was the flag, during the debate over Health Care Reform. The ones accusing the President of being a Socialist and in violation of this most sacred Holy document. The ones who now think it should be changed. Imagine that.

As for the people who are so worried about the deficit and the debt we are passing on to our children and grandchildren, I say to them, what were you thinking when your President, Mr. Bush was pushing us into this mess? Getting us into two wars that have been costing billions every week, to fund. The very thought that President Obama would be able to neutralize or fix any of Bush’s toxic policies and screw ups in a mere 18 months is ridiculous. I think most people who use the tired argument of spending our kids into debt, could give a “big fat rats patootie,” about their kids’ financial future. They just think it sounds good and somehow more responsible and patriotic to say they care.

I used to think that I was a Republican until I realized that I was too soft hearted and didn’t have near enough money to be one. And, friends, if you ain’t got money, you’re not one either, you’re just being fooled into thinking you are, for your vote. They don’t work for you, they work for the MONEY ! I do not have an affiliation with any political party. I vote, for or against, the person, not the Party.. I will never vote for Sarah Palin or any other unintelligible, incoherent, smart mouthed, celebrity hungry person, like her.

What kind of people are we, if money and power is the yard stick that we use to measure good and bad, Love and Hate?

Joy Shaw Fairfield
