Funeral services were held Friay at Old Union Cemetery, near Freestone Community for Freestone County native Mildred Elwanda Gotcher Newcomb, 80, who died Aug. 8 in Oklahoma.

Mrs. Newcomb was born Jan. 20, 1930 to par- ents Henry Alton and Virginia Belle Wren Sartor of Freestone County. She attended schools in Donie and Teague.

She worked as a licensed beautician and moved to Elk City, OK in 1970 where she purchased her own salon, the Wig Wam Beauty Shop which she operated for many years.

Mrs. Newcomb is survived by her husband of more than five years Nathan (Nate) Newcomb; daughter Mildred Jeannette Stout; granddaughter Stacy Stout Graham and husband Jason; great-granddaughters Sierra and Makayla, all of Elk City, OK; sister Joy Swaim and husband Donald of Arlington and numerous cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by husband Joe Gotcher, her parents and son-in-law James William Stout.

Officiating was Rev. Orval Barger.

Making arrangements was Bowers Funeral Home of Teague.
