FHS Eagles football practices start
FAIRFIELD EAGLES FOOTBALL prospects practice getting off the line in a drill Monday morning. The Eagles started 2-a-day practices in helmets and pads and got to full pads Saturday. Fairfield gridders are scheduled to host a scrimmage next week against West.
More than 90 prospects reported Monday morning for the start of Fairfield high school Eagles 2-a-day football training.
Practices this week are in helmets and shorts and contact drills in full pads start Saturday.
The Eagles will scrimmage West at home at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14.
A second scrimmage, against Crockett, is at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, on the road.
The 2010 season kicks off at home Friday, Aug. 27, against the Ferris Yellowjackets.
Other pre-district games are Friday, Sept. 3, at Hillsboro, Sept. 10 at Teague, Sept. 17 at home against Rusk and Sept. 24 at Kemp.
The Rusk game is homecoming.
District 20-AAA competition gets underway at home Oct. 1 against the Mexia Blackcats, followed the next four weeks at Palestine Westwood, at home against Palestine, at Groesbeck and at home against Madisonville.
Under University Interscholastic League realignment earlier this year, the district returned to the alignment of two years ago.
Moved out of the district are Brownsboro, Crockett and Athens.
The Eagles are directed for the third year by head coach Darrell Piske.
