Teams, band to start practice

Athletes and musicians at Fairfield high school report to summer practices Monday to start preparations for the fall sports and band season.

Prospective football players report at 6:15 a.m., freshmen to the locker room next to the weight room and athletes in grades 10-12 to the locker room in Johnson Activity Center.

Football 2-a-day practices start at 7 a.m. for a session that runs until 8:50 a.m. on Eagle Field.

The second gridiron session is from 9:50-11:20 a.m. Weightlifting, conditioning and watching game films will run until about 1 p.m.

Freshmen players practice from 7-9:30 a.m.

The Eagles scrimmage West at home on Aug. 14 and Crockett on the road on Aug. 20. First game is at home Aug. 27 against Ferris.

Lady Eagles volleyball players practice from 8-11 a.m. and 12:30-2:30 p.m. starting Monday at Johnson Activity Center.

Volleyball scrimmages are set Aug. 6 at Centerville and Aug. 7 at home, with season opening matches Aug. 10 at Centerville.

Cross country practices start at 7 a.m. Monday at the Eagle Field track.

Athletes in seventh, ninth and 11th grades must get new physicals prior to the start of 2-a-day practices, as well as fill out participation forms.

Grand Band from Eagle Land report to the band hall to start practices at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Band students work on marching from 6:30-9 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for the next two weeks, and on music from 9 a.m.-noon Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Fairfield students start classes on Monday, Aug. 23.
