Sheriff’s Report

by Ralph Billings

Sheriff's Report Number 498- This will be old news by the time it is read, since my deadline with the papers is a few days before their print date, but I want to make sure it gets said…..To a gala soiree on Sunday afternoon at First Baptist Church, Fairfield. What was the all the hubbub you ask? Why Heavens, nothing less than the Official Retirement Hooflau for Miss Pat Robertson, unofficial medical expert for the entirety of Freestone County. I might add that it was most definitely standing room only…..And that was just to get up to the front of the line to sign the Guest Register! After that, it grew VERY crowded. There were people showing up from surrounding Counties, this County…..I'm sure from at least as far north as the Red River, not to mention from the Gulf Coast! Dr. Keller hovering around in the background, proud of the accomplishment of his long-time Chief Medical Helper. After all these years I'm still a bit confused…..Really and truly, am still wondering if she worked for him…..or he worked for her! Some of both I'm sure. Anyway, Miss Pat, we surely are thankful of your many years of devoted service to all of the citizens of our area. We don't see your type of dedication often in life. You are truly one in a million! And Pat, one more thing…..All of those years…..and you always had a warm smile on your face! We're mighty proud of you Miss Pat….And that ain't just from me…..that's from everybody!
