JOHN SHOOK John Shook

Funeral services for John Shook, 55, were held Wednesday, July 14, at Bowers Funeral Home. Bro. John Goodwin officiated. Interment followed the services at Post Oak Cemetery in Donie.

Mr. Shook died Monday at his residence in Teague.

Mr. Shook was born in Indiana and lived there for most of his life until moving to Teague in 2007. He quickly learned to love Texas and all its inhabitants. Mr. Shook was Jack-of-all-trades. He currently held jobs working at Brookshire’s, mowing lawns, working at the Donie Methodist Church, and as a handy man, as well as several other odd jobs. Mr. Shook was member of the Donie Methodist Church, he loved NASCAR and people.

He is survived by his wife of almost 25 years, Mary Shook of Teague; his son, Jonathon Rees and wife Joycelyn of Elkhart, Indiana; a daughter Jane Nicely and husband Chay of Elkhart, Indiana; stepsons, Gabriel Yharra of Elkhart, Indiana, Michael Drury and wife Kimberly of La Porte; grandchildren, Jaden, Jonathon, Joseph, Gabby, Tanner, Harley and Danica; sisters, Sonia, Violet, Tammy and Cathy Shook, all of Elkhart, Indiana; a brother, Defoe Shook of Elkhart, Indiana; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Arthur Shook; and his step-father Carl Rees.
