Our Condolences to the Hicks Family. Well known, highly skilled veterinarian. Our neighbor just down the road. Everyone knew him as a cow doctor. I knew him as a master gardener. Every year, steady as a clock, he had two or three gardens, full of vegetables, all going at the same time. There is no telling how many pounds of peppers, peas, corn, squash, etc. he gave away every year. He was a farmer at heart, always planting. When one crop matured, it got turned under, seeds distributed, water hose drug out, and before you knew it, he had another crop on the way. Every spare minute, passing by, you'd see him in one of those garden patches. Morning or evening, seven days a week, that was his "getaway." But, when you called with an animal down, he would depart immediately, enroute to his "house call." He assisted many a 4-H and FFA kid through the years.
