Courthouse project gets approval

Approval was given by Freestone county commissioners last week to remodel another area of the courthouse.

County Judge Linda Grant describes it as “part of the systematic remodeling of the courthouse.”

The area to be redone is in the northeast corner of the fourth floor, which has been used as a district clerk records storage space.

The records room will become two rooms, one of them for the court coordinator office and putting it next to the district judges’ chambers.

An office currently used by the court coordinator, to $150,000.

Current financial figures provided by Ivy shows that FHD has $1.48 million in checking accounts and certificates of deposit, an amount that has increased the past five months.

The FHD budget and tax rate must be approved by Sept. 3 to allow the Freestone County Tax Office to bill property owners on Oct. 1.

ETMC, which leases the hospital facility and is funding an expansion project, plans to make $1.8 million in capital expenditures in 2011, $900,000 in 2012 and $600,000 the following year, in addition to the expansion, administrator Raz Cook reports.

She also notes that ETMC Fairfield is breaking even on operations.
