Sheriff’s Report

Sheriff's Report Number 495- DPS Rickey Jones to US-84 accident, just west of Teague, one fell asleep, rolled his car, no injuries. TPD Cordova to possible prowler on 10th. Deputy Clayton Aldrich to FCR- 1128, troubles with grown son who just wouldn't leave, being abusive, getting physical, etc., now in Jail. Man assaults female passenger in vehicle with him, kicks her out on IH-45, leaves scene, Dep. Harrison able to speak to female, get assailant stopped by another officer, hears the story of him choking her, etc. and gets him hauled to Jail, Assault Family Violence. For some reason the last few weeks, these choking incidents seem to be increasing.

TPD Reed arrests man on two City of Teague Traffic Warrants. Butler VFD and FEMS to FCR- 325, man badly dehydrated, memory troubles, carried straight to ER Palestine. TPD Howard to Loop 255, Mail box vandalized. DPS Sandifer notified of 18-Wheeler forcing others off road, Mile 211. DPS Jones gives stranded Lady and two kids courtesy ride to Love's. DPS Sandifer, Dew VFD and FEMS to accident, FM-489.

THDEMS and Donie VFD to drilling rig, FCR-795, man conscious but not coherent, possible seizure. Deputies Willis and Taylor to possible Landlord/Evictee problems, FCR-536. Dogs chasing deer, FCR-540, right through Lady's back yard. FEMS to Boyd Unit, Inmate vomiting blood. Kirvin VFD to grassfire, FM-27. DPS Adams assisting Lady change flat tire, Mile 189.

Area Firemen to Commissioner's Court and later meeting with HOTCOG at VFW. Am very thankful to Commissioners for voting to spend a little more on our old 38 year old equipment to get us by until totally new equipment can be installed on or before February, 2011. This new equipment is from Grant Funds being furnished through HOTCOG out of Waco.

TPD Martin to Jail with driver, ran stop sign, license invalid. Wortham man seeks assistance, wife fell, needs a little extra muscle. DPS Jones to vehicle/deer accident, FM-488 and US-287. FEMS to Oakridge, 66 year old sick three days. Navarro Co. S.O. advised of phone call from their County Road 642, Lady sees smoke, heard two loud explosions, Purdon. TPD Reed to report of house burglarized. TPD Travis Martin arrests female motorist, Dallas Hot Checkin' Warrant.

Dep. Robert Elom follows FEMS to Palestine for security, mental case in ambulance, headed to mental facility. Deputy Clayton Aldrich jails Lady arrested at residence, Hot Checkin in Limestone and Freestone Counties. Power line down, US-84, out of juice in Fairfield for while. More electrical problems at substation on Reunion. Red lights inoperable. Mexia EMS and Wortham VFD to S. 3rd, shortness of breath. Fairfield VFD to West Commerce, electric box making popping noises. Power line down, FM-488.

Broken valve/hose causes chlorine spill problems at local Streetman water well on Old 75 North. Road closed down, area residences automatically dialed by new phone system to shelter in place in residences in area, Streetman and Fairfield VFD's, Environmental Officer Billy Madding, Deputies, TxDOT, DPS, TCEQ, EPA all assisting until chlorine odor dissipated. An All Night deal. Man on FM- 80 having Alzheimer's Troubles, imagining things that didn't occur, family members contacted. The mind can play funny tricks on folks suffering from that ailment. Officer Keathley to complaint on 4-Wheeler, Lubbock Street.

Loud music on Spruce. TPD Sykora told 'em to turn the knob the other way! Limestone County S.O. advised of two cows out, US- 84, near LCR-312. Deputies Robert Willis and Clayton Aldrich respond to report of suspicious person on FM- 489 in Lanely area at a vacant house. He refused to give his name, was instantly very belligerent, threatened to kill both Deputies, etc., now in Jail, Terroristic Threat and Failure To Identify.

Another Big Year for contestants at last week's County Fair. About 1/3 Million dollars in total animal sales. Slightly down from last year, but considering the economy, a whopping amount of dollars once again.

Bounce comes in on telephone, man threatening suicide, redirected back to Anderson Co. S.O. from where it came. Man on IH- 45 has jack fall while changing tire, one finger cut off, to ER. FPD Tiner to Jail with young man arrested on Talford, Marijuana and Controlled substance. Deputies Robert Willis and Clayton Aldrich in with another, Controlled Substance again, 22 Xanax's.

TPD Cordova and Sykora to storage building burglarized. THDEMS to S. 6th, Lady not breathing well, numb, to ER. Call comes in from Coolidge, domestic troubles, he kicked her out, he kept the kid, nobody speaks English and turned over to Limestone County to contact local officer. Lady in Teague back to Mexia by ambulance, potassium levels way too high. Southern Oaks VFD to smoking water heater on Cypress.

Dep. Robert Willis arrests Lady at residence on Motion To Revoke Probation Warrant. Deputy Clayton Aldrich working on problem, FCR-752, truck shot with BB gun. FEMS to Fairfield City Limits, FM-488, trucker feared having heat stroke. Fairfield and Streetman VFD's out with grassfires, IH-45. FEMS to local restaurant, Lady passed out. Call comes in, Lady's baby's daddy beat her up, Bateman, FPD advised. Fairfield VFD to more grassfires, north of Fairfield on the Big Road. Sign on County road says, "Young Men, Old Men, Be aware the Sheriff's Office is watching you."

Streetman's Annual Independence Day Lawnmower Parade coming soon, Saturday, July 3rd at 10AM. Come one, come all, everybody's invited…..Come and watch, or better yet, dust off that old lawnmower, add a few flags, red, white and blue balloons, put on your fancy dancing pumps and become a participant. Hot Dogs and Kid Games will be held at the Fire Department.

And another upcoming….. The annual Teague Rodeo Parade is just around the corner. Horses, cowboys, pretty cowgirls, a good family outing, leading up to the Annual Rodeo. Believe this will kick off on July 1st, watch the papers.

Very welcome rain on Thursday morning. Once again…..just in the nick of time. As usual, amounts reported varied, had .9 inch at our house. Deputies and Jailers busy transporting Inmate to Courthouse. DPS Putz to Mile 184, vehicle spun off roadway. Dead body reported in a trash can at Lanely…..Sure was, an animal! Loose cattle, US-84 at FCR-925, Dep. McGowan to same, put back behind fence. Also to disturbance on FCR- 930, one pushed down, one pushed, one slapped, one left. Of course, this story had two sides, the other exactly opposite of preceding sentence. Stems from a divorce.

TPD Scott Sykora arrests female driver on North 8th, drinking, gave wrong name when asked for same, to ER for Blood Draw, next to Jail for DWI and Failure To Identify. Person falls on Oak street, takes a tumble, needs a little assistance to arise. Grandpa/Grandson Troubles in Teague, TPD Cordova to same. Lady calls from US-84 in Teague, had a break-in a month ago, stuff stolen, didn't report it, now she knows who has it, TPD Sykora to same. Visited with Mr. Watt Newman the other day, up, going and right chipper. Used to be neighbors. He and Mrs. Newman were two of the most talented and hard-working people I've ever known, always busy.

Problems in Groesbeck transferred to Limestone Co. S.O., Lady spending all of her money on dope every week, leaves nothing to put on the table, slowly starving. Loose cattle, FCR-275. Power line sagging by Streetman VFD. Man claiming to be with Census acting suspicious, gone from area when Deputies arrived, FCR- 867. FPD Tiner and Markham stop man with traffic violations, to Jail DL Suspended.

To Fairfield No. 1, Church of God in Christ to serve as part of judging team for that Church's Barbecue Cook-Off on chicken and ribs. Pastor David Algood had a large crowd present, even in the heat of the day and a very good time was had by all. A good, old-fashioned day and event. A time to kick back in the shade of a tree, visit with friends and just enjoy life…..And, I believe everyone present did just that….know I did!

THDEMS, Teague VFD, TPD and JP Debbie Hamilton to report of death on N. 3rd. FPD, Deputies and DPS to disturbance on Main. THDEMS to problems with pregnancy on FM-80. Deputies Mcgowan and Robertson, DPS Purnell to Family troubles on FCR-301, husband pulled a gun on her. Dew VFD, FEMS and DPS Purnell to Mile 189, car left roadway, struck sign, on fire. Loose cattle, Old 75 at Loop 262.

Deputy McGowan arrests man at residence in Teague on warrant. Vehicle burglarized at Boat Ramp on north side of Big Lake, transferred to Navarro Co. S.O. Continuing problems with locks being cut off water meters, Deputy Elom to same. THDEMS to FCR-885, body parts numb. TPD Howard to Atwood, items stolen, house burglary. Deputy Harrison arrests man on Warrant. WPD Peters to Wortham business, windows shot out.

FEMS to FM-488, possible diabetes troubles. 4- Wheeler problems, 3rd and 4th, Spruce and Ash area, TPD Martin and Sykora to same. FPD Utsey jails driver, DL suspended. FEMS and Butler VFD to FM-489, Lady collapsed. Report of Nissan on IH-45, all over road, driving poor, caller says entire load of people inside all appear to be "dancing.

Call from Southern Oaks advises man just cut hand severely with saw, Southern Oaks VFD, FEMS and Doctor Chopper all alerted. TPD Reed to Brookshire Bros., Lady locked keys and child in car. Also to dispute over removing property from divorcing couple's house.

Nearly July and things are still green, but chances of rain slim tremendously over the next few months. Let us each be ever-mindful of the possibility of fire. Whether you're welding, burning trash or a brush pile, be prepared. Have a water hose handy, keep your eyes peeled, keep a cell phone handy.
