County to try online marketplace

Freestone county commissioners will try a new approach to buying and selling equipment, and take another step into the computer age in the process, although somewhat reluctantly.

The county officials voted Monday to join Govdeals.com, a sort of ebay for government.

Vote on the issue was actually tied, with precinct four commissioner Clyde Ridge and precinct one commissioner Luke Ward giving the nod to the idea, while precinct two commissioner Craig Oakes and precinct three commissioner Stanley Gregory voted against it.
