Miss Thornton, 18, headed the class all four years of high school and graduates with a 4.81 grade point average.

The daughter of Kelly and Sheri Thornton started school in Fairfield, transferred to Mexia in second grade and transferred to Wortham in eighth grade.

She plans to attend Blinn College then transfer to Texas A&M to earn a doctorate in accounting.

“I love math,” she says of her career pursuit.
